The older I get, the more difficult it is to tell people what I want for Christmas because if I want something, I’ll probably just buy it myself. But, here are a few things I’ve been eyeing this year (or have already bought myself, oops).
1. Playboy x Missguided loungewear
Comfy clothes are so hot right now. And given that my apartment is constantly freezing (even when it’s not that cold outside), I have been living in my one pair of black sweats. I love a good Playboy motif, although I’d definitely size down in this set if I were you. I ordered the smallest size and they fit more like boyfriend sweats than joggers.
2. Vanessa Mooney jewelry
I’ve been eyeing jewelry on Vanessa Mooney’s site for a while now, it’s just slightly out of the price range of what I normally spend on jewelry (especially when shopping online). This cherry heart rosary (and the matching ring) are my faves.
3. Chic kitchen tools for at-home cooking
If you’re like me, you’ve been doing lots of cooking and baking since March. You may have noticed that there are certain kitchen tools you didn’t think you needed, but now realize you do. For me, those things are: a metal whisk and a microplane (zesting 3 entire oranges with a knife is not fun, trust me).
4. Etsy prints since I’ve finally started hanging stuff in my apartment
It took nearly two years, but I finally started hanging stuff on the walls of my apartment this month. My old coworker told me I reminded her of the Hindu goddess of death, time, and doomsday—Kali—because of how I stick my tongue out in photos. I did a little research on Kali and I’m kind of obsessed. Would love to order a print of her for my pad.
5. A book to snuggle up with for the rest of the winter
I know people have differing opinions on this, but I think books are such a great gift. When someone gives me a book that they think I would like, it means so much to me! However, usually I end up just telling my family which books are on my list so that I have something to occupy myself with over the holidays. This year I asked for the aptly Christmas-cover-themed “Happy Ever After.” You may have heard about this book when the news was covering a new study that said unmarried women are happier—that study was analyzed in this book and it’s how their PR team apparently pitched the book. The book isn’t about that though, it sounds like it’s more about living your life being true to yourself rather than trying to fit the mold that everyone else says you should fit into. This is something I struggle with, and I also always love reading about relationships, so I will keep ya’ll posted on how this is.
6. More cute dresses from femme luxe finery
All dressed up and nowhere to go? Story of my life. If you’re looking for dresses that are as cute as they are comfy (and affordable), check out Femme Luxe Finery. I got this dress, plus another really cute corset dress from there. They also have lots of trendy trousers, bodysuits, and jeans. You can read my full review of their blog (and see some more cute dresses) here.
7. Something that makes winter dressing fun
Okay, I realize winter in LA is nothing to write home about (thank goodness), but it does get chilly here! I used to have a fun pair of PVC pants that looked great, but were the most uncomfortable things in the world and started peeling as soon as I wore them. I think I could use an upgrade and these look like they could be way more comfy and practical, but just as eye-catching.
8. Upgraded face masks, because we’re probably in this for the long haul
You know how socks are low key a great gift to get as an adult? Think of face masks as the new socks of Christmas 2020. We’re probably going to be wearing them every day for at least a few more months (likely another year tbh), so might as well get comfortable and cute ones! Kitsch makes really cute masks that match with all your ‘fits and are really comfy (they’re 100% cotton so they’re a lot lighter than other masks).
