Off To The Races: Race Car Fashion Pieces To Snag This Summer

July 16, 2018 by loxandleather No Comments

Chances are you may have noticed that race car fashion is everywhere this summer. Or nascar-chic, or hot wheels couture, whatever you want to call it.

The look is semi-sporty, involves lots of checkers and stripes, and usually falls in the red, white, black, and yellow color scheme (a.k.a my favorite colors to wear). Also, flames may or may not be involved.

If you know what kind of stuff I like, you can probably see why I’m digging this trend.

I got a bright red racing jacket from Melrose Trading Post when I was in L.A. in March, and although the big Bud logo emblazoned across the front makes me feel a bit poser-ish since I’m sober, I really like it.

I felt like it went really well with a mini-dress I got from Dolls Kill, which combined the race car fashion trend, plus the cherry trend that’s also been popping up everywhere.

Topped off with my favorite red PVC boots, and I felt like I was off to the races (or at least ready to hop in a cute guy’s sports car).

You can still buy my dress here, but I’ve also highlighted a few other race car fashion looks that I’m obsessing over right now. Scroll down to check them out, plus to see more photos from this look!

4 Race Car Fashion Pieces To Snag This Summer

1. A Bag That I Need For Obvious Reasons

SUSPENDED LICENSE CHAIN BAG

$38.00

“Lit” is one of the many words/phrases I started saying as a joke, but then got naturally incorporated into my vocabulary and grew on me. This bag also reminds me of the pair of black, flame-printed converse I had in the 4th grade that I cherished dearly, not to mention it looks like it would fit a lot of shit in it!

2. C’mon Baby Light My Fire

TO MY FANS FLAME SOCKS

$8.00
Having cute socks is an underrated resume booster. There’s nothing worse than having a cute outfit that’s ruined by your below average socks peeking out from your vans. For that reason, I always make a point to buy cute socks (or simply basic black ones) when there’s an opportunity.

3. If You’re Feeling Cheeky

CROSS TO FINISH PATCH BODYSUIT

$28.00

Can you ever have enough black bodysuits? If you ask me, the answer is no. And it’s never a bad time to remind everyone that you finish last.

4. Burnin’ Vinyl

FLAME THROWER BUCKLE TOP

$28.00
This top is anything but practical, but it’s not like you’re actually planning on getting anywhere near a racetrack, right? Embrace the underboob!

Goodbye Bread Swimwear Review: Was This Crazy Suit Worth The Risk?

July 6, 2018 by loxandleather No Comments

Remember back in February when I wrote a review on my experience shopping at Goodbye Bread? Well, they released a swimwear collection in early June, so I decided to try out one of their suits and write an honest Goodbye Bread swimwear review! Hope it’s helpful to you!

My Goodbye Bread Swimwear Review:

Here’s the suit I bought:

P*ssy Guard Cutout Swimsuit, $32

Honestly, this is not normally the type of suit I’d buy, but I’ve gotten to a point where I have so many damn swimsuits that if I’m going to get a new one, I might as well get something different (or might as well cover my lap scars — see here). The $32 price point was also super reasonable for something that I would never want to wear long enough to get noticeable tan lines in. Even so, I was definitely skeptical of how it’d look on me in real life.

Here’s how the suit looks on me (size XS):

Not to sound cocky, but I was honestly shook at how well this fit me and how flattering the cut was. Call me crazy, but my natural inclination is that a swimsuit that legit has a hole in the middle for your stomach wouldn’t be super flattering. Part of the reason it worked is because the suit felt like a true XS (which means I had major underboob action, but that was all a part of the plan). The fabric also felt very legit for a $32 swimsuit in that it was stretchy, but firm and gave that “sucked in” feeling.

I unfortunately didn’t get a good shot of the back, but the booty cut is cheeky without being too over the top for a family vacay, which is my personal sweet spot.

I sincerely wish the tan lines in this thing wouldn’t be horrible, because I want to wear it all the time. It was also the perfect suit to pair with real clothes for a night swim look while I was in Vegas (especially because at night I didn’t have to worry about tan lines).

Oh, they also make the suit in baby pink, which you can buy here. The only downside to keep in mind about Goodbye Bread is that they only offer store credit for returns, so just remember that before you go on a shopping spree!

Overall, I was really happy with the quality, price, sizing, and cut of this suit (regardless of my low expectations). Now I’ll just pray that this semi-ridiculous cut doesn’t go out of style anytime soon!

I hope my Goodbye Bread swimwear review helped you get a better idea of if you should snag a suit from them! As always, would love to hear feedback and requests 🙂

Have you noticed that cherry print clothing has legit been everywhere this spring?

I’m definitely not complaining. I’ve always loved the pin-up girl style, although the true pin-up clothing is a bit too conservative for my personal taste. However, adding cherry print on everything, from crop tops to g-strings, makes me feel like I’ve got a little bit of retro style. Also, if you know me, you know I like anything red.

I’ve rounded up five adorable cherry-print items that are on my current wishlist, plus added some pics of how I styled this Forever 21 cherry print wrap top on my trip to LA. Keep scrolling for more!

5 Pieces of Cherry Print Clothing You Need For Summer

1. Because sundresses don’t have to be floral

Cherry Poppa Sundress, $48

Sundresses have a bad rep in my mind because guys on Reddit act like they’re the holy grail or something, but on a hot summer day when you can’t look like a complete thot, they do come in clutch. Unfortunately, I don’t really like florals that much, so a nice cherry print works better for me.

2. When you’re goth, but you also enjoy fruit

Cherry Twist Mini Dress, $208, For Love & Lemons

If a white cherry print sundress is still too girly for you, this piece of cherry print clothing maintains goth vibes while still keeping you cool.

3. It’s irresponsible to spend $18 on underwear, but I also need this

Sweet Lovin’ Cherry Panties, $18

I currently have a $30 Dolls Kill gift card and there’s a good chance I may spend 1/3 of it on this pair of panties.

4. For When You’re Sassy, But Sweet

cherry print clothing enjoy your problems zaful loxandleather

Cherry Embroidered Tube Crop Top, $9.65, Zaful

The slogan on this cherry print clothing item kind of reminds me of one of those lost in translation t-shirts that people kept seeing in Asia, but I also love it.

5. If You’re Not Quite Ready To Free The Nip

Black Cherry Badge Triangle Soft Bra, $20
