My Honest Glo Science Teeth Whitening Review

April 8, 2020 by loxandleather 5 Comments

Did you see me or another blogger on Instagram posing with Glo Science’s light-up mouthpiece? Want to read an honest Glo Science teeth whitening review before ordering your own? I’ve got you covered!

Bored at home and wanting to emerge from shelter-in-place looking better than ever? Or, maybe just figuring this is as good a time as any to whiten your teeth since you know you’ll be able to be consistent? For me, keeping up with self-care and “shallow” practices like these make me feel like life is a little more normal. And whitening my teeth for 7 days with Glo Science’s Lit Kit gives me a sort of “routine” and goal to attain.

And, to be honest, I tried white strips earlier this year and barely saw a difference, which was a bummer! I’ve also had the experience of expensive, dentist-prescribed whitening when I was a teenager—complete with an Invisalign-like retainer, so I’ve tried a bunch of different teeth whitening options.

Here’s my honest Glo Science Teeth Whitening review—broken down into the pros, cons, and other good to know information.

What I Used:

Glo ScienceGLO Lit™ Teeth Whitening Tech Kit, $149 at Sephora

I used the Lit Kit (love that name) for a 7-day period. But, you can use it for longer depending on your needs/goals. I didn’t see a warning anywhere against using it too often like I’ve seen on other whitening products. I think this is because this product doesn’t use some of the sensitizing ingredients used in other products.

The Good:

  • The mouthpiece is one size fits all and the whitening “paste” doesn’t really taste like anything.
  • There’s a Bluetooth-connected app that automatically times your whitening sessions (3 sessions a night, 8 minutes each) and reminds you to whiten each night.
  • Your teeth won’t be extra-sensitized to hot or cold items after whitening (or at least, mine weren’t).
  • You can purchase the kit at Sephora (hello, VIB points!).
  • I felt like I definitely saw a difference in just seven days!

The Bad:

  • While the app is a great idea, it tended to glitch a lot. It didn’t seem to register my previous whitening sessions, so each night it was like I was starting my 7-day whitening journey all over again. Of course, I remembered when I started, so it was fine, but still not ideal.
  • Personally, I thought the lip treatment tasted kind of funky (almost like if non-scented was a flavor), so I didn’t use it throughout my whole treatment.

The Good to Knows:

  • Like pretty much every whitening product I’ve tried, the mouthpiece isn’t the most comfortable thing in the world. After each session, I had to spit out the saliva that had accumulated in my mouth for eight minutes (cute, right?). But, if I entertained myself while whitening, I’d get used to it and almost forget it was there sometimes.
  • There are three 8-minute sessions in each whitening treatment, so plan accordingly. The first time I tried it, I didn’t realize there were 3 sessions (might have also been the app glitching), so I only did one—oops!

My results:

Okay, so the first photo was taken on day 2, and the last photo was taken on day 7. Unfortunately, although I took the photo in the same place, I didn’t take them at the same time of day, and it seems like the second photo is warmer (look at my hair color, skin color, etc.—although I’m also wearing makeup). So, it’s hard to see if there was a difference in whiteness via photos, but I definitely feel that my teeth are whiter personally, and I feel like I do notice it in photos.

However, because I tried white strips earlier this year and have done whitening in the past, I think my results are probably less noticeable than others because my teeth are already pretty white. I think I may still do another week to see if I notice any more of a change!

I hope this Glo Science teeth whitening review was helpful to you and let me know any questions you may have in the comments section below! You can order your own Glo Lit Kit here.
